    Sacema’s Static Belt Cleaner is a specialised conveyor belt cleaning equipment, which performs an effective and safe cleaning of the conveyor belt with an industrial lath brush, which remains static and transversal to the belt.

    Description

    This is a static conveyor belt cleaning equipment consisting of the following components:

    1. Industrial lath brush of the length of the belt width, total height 200 mm and free 145 mm, made of technical polyamide filaments.
    2. A frame and a 5 mm thick carbon steel shaft with anti-corrosion surface treatment.
    3. A mechanical system that adjusts the distance of the brush to the belt to bring the lath brush closer to the conveyor belt as it wears to ensure maximum use of the brush.

    The equipment is supplied assembled, and has a wide range of adjustments, both for the position of the brush within the brush support frame, the separation between pillars and the working height of the equipment.

    On many occasions, the use of static brushes cannot be mounted at 90º with respect to the belt, as the waste would accumulate in front of the brush, and the belt itself would end up dragging it and making the equipment ineffective.

    For these occasions, the cleaning brushes are placed at 45º with respect to the belt surface.

    Customisation

    The non-powered belt cleaner is a product that has evolved from years of supplying industrial pusher brushes, or artificial turf maintenance brushes, and has continued with the same concept of a modular U-shaped support frame with flap.

    Various customisations are possible to meet specific customer requirements:

    • Manufacture of the standard belt cleaner or for the food industry, with the components in stainless steel with specific brushes for food compatibility, except for the motor/reducer which are conventional.
    • Modification of the type of anchorage or support.
    • Modification of the industrial brush filaments to further customise them to the specific type of cleaning to be carried out by the brush, or to perform other work than cleaning the belt, such as those mentioned above for the labelling machine, dusting off or applying a product uniformly.
    • There is also the possibility of supplying only the strip brushes.
    • Development of accessories, as an example:
      • Damping systems for the brush, in case there is a lot of instability and the distance from the belt cleaner to the belt needs to be damped.
      • Integration of actuators to bring the brush closer through pneumatic cylinders and thus externally control when the belt cleaner is working or not.
      • Systems for the integration of accessories such as water supply systems for wet cleaning, with their own dirty water collection system, and optionally belt drying.

    Regulation and Assembly

    The assembly of the belt cleaner is relatively simple, as it has been designed standardised for any conveyor belt to provide maximum flexibility in assembly.

    The support to the conveyor belt bed is made by means of 2 carbon steel plates of 5 mm thickness and 6 slotted holes each to be fixed with M10 screws.

    The frame in which the lath brushes are housed is deliberately made longer than the brush needs to be able to move the brush along the support and to be able to separate the supports of the brush cleaner from the brush.

    The frame, brush and supports set moves vertically to bring the brush closer to the belt as the brush wears.

    FAQs

    Does the static belt cleaner require energy input?

    The static belt cleaner does not require any energy input, as it has no motor, gearbox, pneumatic or hydraulic power supply.

    What maintenance should be carried out on the belt cleaner?

    Since it is a cleaning equipment, and therefore it is working in dirty environments, it is advisable to clean it regularly, so that the brush evacuates the residue from the belt correctly.
    It is also advisable, from time to time, to disassemble and change the working direction of the brush to prevent the filaments from acquiring defects and becoming permanently bent.

    How long does the belt cleaner brush last?

    The life of the brush depends on the working pressure and the speed of the belt feed.
    The higher the working pressure and the higher the speed, the shorter the life of the brush.
    In any case, the brush filaments are made of polyamide 6 technique, and the lifetime is high, working under efficient conditions.
    In the static cleaner it is even more important that the motorised unit does not work with excessive pressure on the brush, as the filaments could become prematurely defective, as they are in contact with the belt 100% of the time, in contrast to the cylindrical filaments of the motorised unit, which are only in contact with the belt part of the time.

    How long is the stroke of the belt cleaner?

    The distance between the minimum lower point and the maximum upper point is 240 mm, which is much greater than the useful length of the filaments, to facilitate the adjustment and assembly of the cleaner.

    How do I know if I can install it on my conveyor belt?

    You must check the measurements in the technical data sheet of the belt cleaner and measure in your installation if you have space for the assembly.
    It is very important that you check that you have space to move the brush up and closer to the belt as the brush wears.
    Also, it is important to note that you will probably have to install the cleaner at a certain working angle to the belt.

    What working width should I choose for my static belt cleaner?

    You should choose at least one brush with a total length equal to or greater than the width of the conveyor belt, bearing in mind that the brushes are modular in length from 200 mm to 200 mm.
    For example, if you have a 750 mm belt, you should choose a belt cleaner of 800 mm, and therefore with 4 modules of strip brushes for the belt cleaner.
    It should be noted that if the cleaner is positioned at an angle to the conveyor belt, the working width required will be greater than the belt width, which varies depending on the working angle.

    How do I know if the belt cleaner cleaning will be effective?

    The static belt cleaner is less effective than the motorised belt cleaner, as there is no motor to perform a cleaning job, but it is effective for most common cleaning jobs where thorough cleaning is not required. However, if you have any doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Is the belt cleaner effective for cleaning dust?

    The belt cleaner is an equipment that works by placing static brushes transversally to the conveyor belt itself.
    The cleaner, depending on its degree, will lift and remove the dust from the surface to be cleaned, but it will remain in suspension, generating a cloud of dust that causes an unhealthy working environment, so it must be combined with a dust suction system that sucks all the dust that the brush removes from the surface of the conveyor belt.
